This image of the fire engines outside Notting Hill fire station (built in 1868 and opened in 1870) 
shows a steam pump, likely to be a Shand-Mason single cylinder.
Local boys gather around the fireman on duty to be included in the photograph
while a policeman looks on from outside the old Police station further down the road.

The Rev. and Hon. Edward and Charles Kegan Paul, were all appointed commissioners.
